Koyo- “Tetrachromat”

By:   Jerome Fitts

Thank God someone has guided a new generation of artist in the right direction of avoiding instant gratification methods to deliver music. Leeds, England five piece Koyo , will release their debut single titled “Tetrachromat” on March 31st, 2017. The single exemplifies the collections of instruments that Huw Edwards (lead vocals, guitar), Jacob Price (sampling, synthesizers), Seb Knee-Wright (guitars), Dan Comlay (bass) and Tom Higham (drums) orchestrated to perfection with a refreshing single. Perhaps a legitimate argument can be made by comparing the band to a familiar sound of the past to the circle of influences that keeps the band in order.

Koyo has obviously listened to and learned from those who structured the elements of creativity without restructuring or resurrecting a sound that was created before them.

Whenever there is an acceptance by  The U.K. Music Scene in 2017 without announcing unrealistic intentions but instead allowing the music to equalize its own volume around a band, one has to take that band serious. This is one of those bands where any listener can grasp the true meaning behind the title of the tune.

Koyo

In this case its Koyo representing their culmination of instruments with a song, “Tetrachromat” , that serves both the band and single justice. The Gods of our understanding created these remarkable musicians and enabled the chemicals between them to generate an energy where their name sake represents their sound. Koyo! Those collectable energys may pay off, depending on the objectives of the band but one thing for sure this sound will last.

In support of the single release on March 31st via 88 Watt, the band are playing selective shows throughout the United Kingdom at:

March 29th: Manchester- Aatma

March 30th: Leeds- The Library

March 31st: Kettering- The Yards

April 7th: Leicester- Duffy’s Bar

May 4th:  London- The Old Blue Last

The bands self-titled debut album (Koyo) will see the light of day on June 9th, 2017.
